FAQ

Where are you located?

Holly Strack is an independently owned business, located inside the Sola Salons professional building. I operate inside a private studio suite and your privacy and confidentiality are my top priority.

The address and map are listed below, scroll to the bottom.

What about privacy? Will other people see me?

There are a lot of people walking in and out of the building. I am one of 72 studios and the only one that specializes in hair loss recovery. I have a privacy sheer and my window is frosted to the outdoor parking lot. The space is private and not shared with anyone else. Come as you are! If you feel more comfortable wearing a hat, hair covering, or hairpiece, feel free.

Where did you get your training from?

I graduated with a Clinical Trichology Certification from the United States Trichology Institute USTI and was accredited through the American Medical Certification Association, AMCA. I am also Licensed as an Advanced Practice Aesthetician, from Savant Aesthetics Institute, to be able to offer microneedling treatments as a hair loss recovery treatment.

What if I have a hairstylist already?

First things first! No need to cancel your appointment with your hairstylist. Although I am also a licensed cosmetologist and hairstylist, I am your trichologist and would like to learn more about your unique situation and further educate you and your hairstylist on how together, we can help support you in your hair loss recovery. However, I would love to help you with your hair color or haircut as well, if you are looking for help!

What if I have cancer and am undergoing chemotherapy or radiation?

First off, I am so sorry you are having to go through this health journey! I want to give you a hug!

Although you could book an appointment before you're finished with any treatment, starting a program of any kind, would need to wait until you have received an "all clear" from your Oncologist.

Are these appointments covered by insurance?

This appointment is not covered by insurance as I am not a medical doctor. Multiple forms of payment are accepted: All Major Credit Cards, Checks, and Cash.

Why do you require a credit card on file?

I require a credit card on file to reserve your appointment time. You do not need to use this card as a form of payment for your services, any products, or programs.

What is an epigenetic hair follicle test?

Just like rings on a tree trunk, our hair holds data. This particular test looks back 90 days to see what is going on that is directly impacting your hair, skin, and nails. Our body may be deficient in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, fatty acids, and exposed to toxins, interference, resistance, or other environmental factors. Our hair follicles need the proper nutrition to grow hair. Feel free to click here to learn more about the company that developed the process, software, and what you'll discover.

I have had a hair transplant, can you still help me?

Absolutely! There are many things we can do to help keep that area growing and anchor that hair. I'd love to help you.

You're not a Doctor or Dermatologist so how can you help me with my hair loss?

I have over 28 years in the beauty industry as a hairstylist/cosmetologist. After feeling helpless to offer any real solutions, as to why my clients were experiencing hair loss, I sought out specific training on this exact subject. I am a clinical certified trichologist and hair loss specialist as well as a liaison between your hairstylist and your doctor. Many factors, once assessed, can be handled without medication or a scalp biopsy. Starting with a thorough digital health history form, and a scalp evaluation, I can assess things like:

  • Health

  • Lifestyle

  • Diet & Nutrition

  • Medications

  • Scalp Hygiene

  • Products

  • Genetics

  • DHT

  • Hormones

Some situations will require working with a dermatologist. If you don't have one, I will recommend one locally that specializes in hair loss.

Should I come with clean hair?

I certainly don't want to throw off your hair-washing schedule but if it has been a couple of days and you have quite a bit of build-up of oil, sebum, or product, this could be helpful, especially if you are not having a treatment done. it will also help in the scoping process. When in doubt, please don't hesitate to reach out by text or submit the "contact me" form in the menu bar or drop-down.

If you are having a hair strand test, please allow 48 hours between a chemical service. If you want a test done on the day of your appointment, it needs to be done beforehand.

If you are coming for a microneedling treatment OR TED treatment, please wash your hair and apply NO styling product. You will not be able to wash or wet your hair for 24 hours following the treatment.

Does microneedling hurt?

Typically not! I've had this done multiple times and no numbing cream was needed. Each person is unique in what they experience. I will be checking in with you every step of the way. I use a cartridge with gentle, barely visible needles with a pen-like device to "lightly" open up channels on the scalp to allow for the body to activate its own natural growth factors and awaken sleepy, dormant hair follicles, and allow the innovative growth factors' serum to penetrate deeper into the layers. Just for reference, tattooing goes much deeper and there will be no blood. Microneedling is actually much more comfortable and tolerable than traditional PRP procedures with actual needles.

How is PRP (platelet-rich plasma) different than using growth factors?

it is a huge myth that PRP is more effective than microneedling with growth factors.

For example, depending on how old you are, think of your cells as, let's say a 50-year-old. I'm nearing 50 but I am not as youthful as I was, say in my 20's or 30's. Even if we use our own body's growth factors (protein messengers), we don't have as many and the quality isn't as good as we age. We have hundreds to a few thousand growth factors, whereas using the professional growth factors serum, we can be providing 30,000. Clinical studies show a 20-30% increase in effectiveness over your own PRP.

What is an Alma TED treatment?

Alma TED uses proprietary technology that helps improve blood flow and utilizes essential ingredients that support optimal hair, scalp health, and follicular strength. Alma TED helps improve the appearance of hair, resulting in thicker, fuller-looking hair with increased shine and strength.

Does having an Alma TED treatment hurt?

No, the treatment should not be painful. You can expect to feel a warm sensation from the device and a ringing sound through the course of the treatment, but there is no pain involved. No needles, no discomfort. No trauma to the scalp. It feels like a head massage!
